This artwork hopes to capture the magic of marriage. With warm colors and intense textures, I hope for this piece to be an almost textile and joyous viewing experience.
When I settled down with the idea of a marriage drawing, I knew I wanted to depict an interaction of two hands: the groom and the bride. I felt that this interaction was vital to showing the connection and deep bond marriage brings, both legal and spiritual. I knew the groom's suit would be black, but I wanted to depict a linen-like texture, to challenge myself and to provide further visual interest. The flowers, derived from my own prom flowers, are softly colored, with complimentary blues against the orange background and skin. |
