Movie Trailer Introduction |
Movie Trailer Reflection |
Continuing the audio engineering unit, we were tasked with recreating the audio of a movie trailer. We took a chosen movie trailer and stripped the audio entirely, leaving just the video track. Using a combination of music, sounds, and dialogue, we attempted to recreate the movie trailer to the best of our ability.

This was probably my favorite project so far. I knew, going in, that I wanted to do a movie trailer that had a good mixture of visible dialogue (to challenge my lip-syncing abilities), sound effects, and music. I ended up choosing 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I spent a while searching for creative sound effects. I had to use many alternative sounds, as the on-screen object didn't have available sound files online for free, like Iron-Man's robot machinery (for which I used a 3d printer's servos). Doing the voicework was very fun, but also troublesome sometimes. When you have different people record different lines, they record them in their own way. You have to almost assume the position of "director" and give them very specific instructions, otherwise you'll end up with a final product that doesn't sound like it "flows." My biggest challenge was the volume. For different tracks, the volumes had to constantly change and be adjusted to allow for other sounds to be audible. It was a very long trial-and-error process to ensure that the sounds level out correctly. Overall, I think my trailer is pretty good. There are some minor gripes, such as certain out-of-place dialogues, but I don't think they reduce the overall quality. |
