I had an overall fun time in Digital Media. Not to sound callous, but I only really took the class to be a "breather" in between other classes that would require hefty workloads like AP Stats and DP4. Once the class actually got started, and the photography unit got underway, I found myself thoroughly enjoying most of the projects.
I've always been very interested in technology, digital arts, and media production, but I wasn't expecting to really grow my passion from the class. I found nearly every project stimulating, creatively provocative, and very open to a wide variety of approaches. There were definitely times in the course that stressed me out. This isn't a critique towards the pacing (which I found to be nearly perfect overall), but I found that that project-a-week pacing was significantly quicker than other classes. I wasn't usually late with assignments, but my procrastination didn't let itself well to the quick pacing. Again, that's not a critique of the class and more of myself.
One thing I found to be interesting was the grading scale. Digital Media is one of the only classes I've taken with a scale other than a 0-100. I am still unsure about how I feel about the grade calculations. I understand the scale and its meaning, and agree with each level, but I don't think I'm fond of how the overall grade is calculated. I think I'm more partial to a system where the grade is automatically calculated as points earned/points possible.
I'm happy I ended up taking this class. It was one of the most fun classes I've taken throughout my high school career, with projects that allowed me to express myself creatively. If I weren't a senior, I'd definitely sign up for the second level.
